The Bridger™ Shoulder Line Throwing Gun is a reliable high quality shoulder-fired line thrower for short and long-distance line deployment. The Bridger is a custom made 45/70 caliber gun capable of throwing a line from 250’ to 750’ or more. With practice, the gun can be ready for line deployment in a matter of seconds.
The Bridger™ Shoulder Line Gun serves many uses in numerous industries including:
• Utility companies
• Fire & rescue teams
• Tugs, barges & ships
• Mining companies
• US Coast Guard
Throwing distance is affected by a number of variables including:
• Line weight
• Projectile type
• Cartridge load
• Wind conditions
Typical Shooting Distances (Std. BP01 Projectile, 30-35 degree shooting angle) |
|||
Shot Line Type | Heavy Load Blank (HL) | Light Load Blank | Extra Light Load Blank |
70 lb. Test Braided Nylon | 600-750 ft. | 450-550 ft. | 350-450 ft. |
140 lb. Test Braided Nylon | 450-550 ft. | 375-425 ft. | 250-325 ft. |
450 lb. Test Braided Spectra | 470-570 ft. | 390-440 ft. | 260-335 ft. |
The above chart should only be used as a general guide. The above distances are typical and may vary; each situation is unique. Distances are based on shooting a standard projectile (BP01) according to the Instructions and Safety Precautions provided with your line throwing gun kit and using Bridger supplies manufactured by Naval Company Inc.
Shooting downhill or with a strong tailwind can significantly increase distance, possibly greater than the ranges shown above. Additionally, shooting uphill will reduce distance. If you are shooting down a steep hill or with an extremely strong tailwind, we recommend defaulting to a longer length line. If shooting with a strong crosswind, projectile will not go as far, however, the wind will likely pull extra shot line from the canister. With gloves on, you may pinch the shot line after the projectile has fallen to the ground to stop the line from continuing to spool out of the canister. Always consider variables such as wind, shooting angle of gun, elevation of final destination, and so forth before choosing your shooting location, shot line and blank cartridge load.
The above distances do not apply if the projectile breaks free of the shot line; projectile can travel significantly farther. To reduce risk of projectile breaking free of shot line, be sure shot line is free from damage and that it is tied to the projectile with the proper loose half hitches as described and illustrated in the Instructions and Safety Precautions. Be sure no people, animals, occupied buildings or vehicles are in your line of fire. Read ALL instructions, safety precautions, and warnings provided with your Bridger line gun kit before shooting
