D5 Work/Rescue Descender
The D5 Descender is a larger version of the D4 Descender and is designed for use on 1/2" (12.7mm) rope. The D5 Descender was developed for the North American Fire & Rescue and Tower Climbing markets, which typically use 1/2" ropes.
The D5 is a double-stop device with an auto-lock function, which is activated whenever the operator releases the handle; and a panic-brake function, which is not overly sensitive in normal use. The D5 is a true panic STOP device rather than a panic BRAKE device.
• A panic BRAKE requires a force input to continue the braking function.
• Once a panic STOP is activated, no other force must be applied to the device.
o Rotate handle counter-clockwise to lock in place.
o Rotate handle clockwise to descend or lower load.
o Rotating handle too far clockwise will engage panic stop function.
o Continued clockwise rotation re-sets the unit.
The D5 can be used for progress capture in hauling systems and allows rapid conversion between raising and lower. The D5 features a progressive cam action, which offers precise control during low or high speeds. The cam is made from high grade, solid Stainless Steel, for maximum durability, even in harsh environments.
The D5 Descender side plate closes with a low-profile, spring loaded safety catch. The simple functional design can be placed onto the rope without removing the carabiner. In addition to the locking button, the side plates are designed such that the plates cannot be rotated open, whilst under load, due to the position of the Carabiner.
